Lewes Carnival - Saturday 14th June 2008
Closed

Hi everyone,

The Society has decided to enter a float into Lewes Carnival. Before I hear screams of 'we're not a carnival society' it is a good community project raising monies for local charities and a little bit of good PR won't hurt the Society.

So... help needed. The theme this year is medieval - which I'm sure we have a little knowledge of! This is an opportunity to get the younger members involved with making things.

There is a meeting on Thursday 10th April at 7pm, at The Dorset. If you feel you'd like to get involved and/or have any ideas on what float we could build please come along.

Look forward to seeing a few faces.

Thanks

Clare

Hi Clare. Count me Vix and both the boys in. Any one who isnt sure but have kids, mine count it as one of the best summer thing they did: working down the yard, meeting new people each week, building & painting a "tab" then walking our streets proudly with it. For the adults: the Polypin of Harveys on the back was pretty good...

In case anyone hasn't heard - we won best float! In addition to the rosettes and very nice trophy, there should be a cheque for £100 on its way to us.

It occurred to me it might be appropriate to donate this to the hospital - what do others think?

Thank you to everyone involved: (we absolutely deserved to win) and to the supporters on the way! Kellys stall raised £280 and we donated £100 to the Lewes Victoria Hosptal from this already. However, good idea Steve. We'll discuss it Tuesday week: someone has suggested a childrens party with the £100. Thoughts?

Just looked through the local rag. What a pathetic write up and set of photos. Once more they show what a useless bunch they are.
